The project Spellbound 25 is a Spellbound production realised with the contribution of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism and Lazio Region – Department for Culture, Youth Policies and Creative Lazio in collaboration with Embassy of Spain in Rome and in co-production with MilanoOltre and Cult!ur Partner.
Despite being 37 years old, Marcos Morau thinks about everything he has left behind and everything he can never be again. Today he remembers the moment when everything was possible, the moment when fulfilment and failure are reached in all their splendour and everything is lived as if the world would collide tomorrow.
“Mars” is not only the God of war, it is also the God of passion, sexuality, perfection and beauty and gives title to the new work of the Barcelona-based author for Spellbound Contemporary Ballet.
“Mars” represents that empty and hostile planet waiting to be colonised by a group of young people. in a kind of celebration in 21st century Europe, with all the strength of its youth and desire as a driving force. A place where no one wants to be left behind and where the future is seen as a confusing labyrinth, full of resignation, disappointments and new conflicts, and where the only war being fought is the one that confronts them with a world that is advancing so fast that it cannot continue.
Pleasure, desire and tension are the central elements of this project. A conflict between the individual and the collective, between the present and an uncertain future, between organic matter and technology, where a new conception of abstract form is revealed.
